"Objects in the nature and the day to day invite me to participate with them and respond to my wish to do so. I love the opportunity to closely observe and appreciate the world in this way, and feel that silent exchange. I endeavor to spark similar feelings in those who view my work, expanding this appreciation in full circle.” (Sharon Mendelson).

Sharon Mendelson finds a higher power in the miracle of nature. Her photography is inseparable from her environmental activism as it reveals the majesty of the natural world and inspires us to preserve it. In pieces such as First Impression, the viewer is confronted with the power of nature to overcome its own destruction. A 4x4 truck has impressed its gridded tracks into the yielding earth. Yet the puddle that covers these tracks creates a beautiful blanket that fades from the earthy oranges of clay to the soft violets of an evening sky. By transforming this moment of nature's destruction into an image of natural beauty, nature has prevailed. Sharon's work reminds us that it should.
