We decided to change things up a bit for our January Wine and Food Event.
We are proud to announce that we will have with us Chef Ronaldo Linares who will be bringing a touch of Cuba to Old York Cellars. He will be demonstrating and preparing traditional Cuban style dishes. The audience will then get a sampling of the dish paired with Old York Cellars wines.
ABOUT Ronaldo’s Cocina (Martino’s Cuban Restaurant)
Chef Ronaldo is an executive chef and restauranteur, based in Somerville, New Jersey’s Martino’s Cuban Restaurant. Chef Ronaldo is about heart, showing la jente (people) how Cuban food inspires love, life, and happiness.
His father was born in Cuba and his mother is from Colombia, where Ronaldo was born and raised in his early years. Ronaldo and his family then moved to the states, where Martino’s Cuban Restaurant started. Ronaldo worked at the restaurant in during his teens and tried to keep out of trouble. He then decided to attend the Marine Corps, focusing on the food service and received multiple awards. To develop his culinary skills, he then attended formal training in the Institue of Culinatry Education, graduating with high honors.
He has competed in the Food Network’s Show “Chopped” and has participated in the Food Network’s “Food & Wine Festival”. His culinary skills are a result of formal training, self-teaching, and guidance from his father, founder of Martino’s Cuban Restaurant. His cooking uses the foundation of Cuban food and adds his owns flavors, resulting in a modern-style, healthy Cuban cuisine.
He brings back to the community through charity events such as the Jersey Battered Women’s Community and stays active through local fund raisers.
He’s captivated audiences through cooking demos at various places like Williams-Sonoma and Martino’s Cuban restaurant. His variety of services includes, but not limited to, event consultations, cooking demos/lessons, and private party hosting. Follow him on twitter via @ronaldoscocina
