How to make a money box at home - help you?
Make a Money Box
1. Take the plastic lid off of the tub and place it with the flattest plastic area down closest to the cutting mat (this keeps the lid more stable when cutting).
2. Using the felt tip pen carefully and neatly draw a coin slot in the lid top (using the largest coin in your currency for reference).
**TOP TIP - Craft knives are very sharp and must only be used by a responsible adult - TOP TIP**
3. Carefully cut out the coin slot with a craft knife following the drawn lines, test the hole to make sure it is big enough for your money to go through. Carefully trim if necessary.
4. Clean off any left-over felt tip marks and put the lid to one side.
5. Measure the circumference (plus 1 or 2 cm for overlap if possible) of the tub and its height and make a note it.
6. Choose a piece of paper that is long enough to wrap around the tub and lay it face down on the cutting mat.
7. Using the dimensions of the tub (circumference plus a little extra & height) draw a rectangle on the back of the paper that will wrap around the tub.
**TOP TIP - If your paper is a little too short to wrap completely around the tub, then a good way to hide a small gap is with some ribbon. Cut a piece of ribbon the same height as the tub and glue in place to cover the gap (it will look like a feature and no one will know the paper wasn't big enough) - TOP TIP**
8. Carefully cut out the rectangle and wrap it around the tub to make sure it is the right size and shape.
9. At this point you can either go straight to sticking the paper onto the tub and then adding any additional decorations or you can decorate the paper first and then stick it on (if you plan to stick on items such as ribbon & buttons etc. then these are best glued on after the paper is stuck on the tub).
When you are ready to stick the paper to the tub, lay the paper face down on top of some scrap paper and evenly spread on a layer of PVA glue, remembering to cover the edges and corners.
Carefully wrap the glued paper around the tub, smoothing the paper with your hand as you go (to remove any air bubbles) - (hopefully it will overlap a little at the back, if not and there is a gap then cover this with some ribbon or a contrasting strip of paper.) Wipe away any excess glue with kitchen paper, but don't worry too much about it as the glue will dry clear.
Add extra decorations if required and leave to dry.
**TOP TIP - If you are adding beads, sequins & buttons etc I recommend using glue specifically designed for the purpose to make them more secure. When making the smallest money box I used 'Diamond Glaze' to attach the sparkly flowers & beads etc - TOP TIP**
Put the lid back on and start saving.

Just amazing!
I never usually leave reviews but just had to for this app. If you were never taught about finances and saving money growing up, this app is a life-saver. There’s no financial jargon, everything is explained simply, very rewarding and makes it fun to save money! The customer service team are amazing, you can ask them anything and they get back to you very quickly, offering a friendly and clear explanation, without making you feel stupid for asking. The only negative reviews I see here are because people couldn’t immediately withdraw money or had fees for early withdrawal, that’s standard for long term savings accounts, especially ISAs. If you need short term, emergency savings then get a savings account you can always access and withdraw from as much as you like, most banks offer these. This app is best for longer term savings and I can’t fault it for that! The ‘simple saver’ lets you withdraw once a month which I think is great, it prevents you from dipping into it too much. Only addition I would love to see is if it could show another total which shows the total savings including the pending income 😊
Hi there - Thank you so much for your kind words and 5* review. We have also flagged your suggestion with our product team to determine whether this is something that we can do going forward.
Love it! Love it! Love it!
After using this App for 6 months now I think it’s brilliant, and another way for me to save money effortlessly it wasn’t what I was expecting initially as I thought the round-up amounts from purchases would be debited instantly instead of weekly but this doesn’t matter!
Interested to read what others think of the App, and to clear some comments up even though the rates are approx £1 a month after the initial 3 month period, the money I’ve accumulated is still more than I would have saved without using this. It does take a while for the money to be debited and then settle but after the first few have gone through it’s a nice regular pattern.
Love logging into this friendly App and looking at how things are going, along with reading the newsletters, articles, rewards on offer and other interesting bits!
How would I improve it? possibly by linking my other accounts to it and debiting round-ups from those accounts instead of my main account although not sure that would be possible?
Thanks Moneybox👍🏼
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed and kind review!
We're happy to hear that you enjoy the recurring weekly deposit system - it's certianly a great way to make regular contributions to your account and to see your investments grow! 📈 We're also very glad you enjoy the content we publish - our aim is to help everyone understand how investing for their future can be easy and manageable 😁
We'd love to be able to allow contributions from multiple sources, however this would pose a money laundering risk so it's not possible with our current setup - however if we make any changes to this system we'll be sure to let you guys know! 📣
Thanks again for the kind words - if there is anything else you'd like to see included in the app please let the team know. All the best!
TY very much MoneyBox well played
Up until Christmas I’d been living pay cheque to pay cheque. Not really knowing how to save or where to start. So I did research and listened to friends, I noticed Moneybox came up in conversation a lot and I was advised to get a lifetime ISA, to save for a house or retirement. So I started making small deposits on Moneybox and was surprised at the difference it was making in my mood, I could observe the growth and it made me feel good, then I thought ok I’ll open a 95 day saving for short term saving. Well it’s now October , I have my pension with money box (they helped me find old forgotten pensions), a stocks and shares account and a 45 day saver too. The deposits are small, but the impact on my finances have been so incredibly helpful and I would recommend. Doing so has really lifted my mood. Their customer service is excellent as well, really on the ball. The app user friendly and I like that I can see my Moneybox accounts in one place.
Hi Chris - This is so great to hear. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your kind review, and your feedback here. We're so happy that you've managed to take control of your financial future, and that it has had a positive impact on your mood. That's really what we are all about as a company, and it's great to see it's paying off. All the best to you, and do get in touch if we can help at all!

The only negative reviews I see here are because people couldn’t immediately withdraw money or had fees for early withdrawal, that’s standard for long term savings accounts, how to make a money box at home, especially ISAs.
Hi there - Thank you so much for your kind words how to make a money box at home 5* review. We have also flagged your suggestion with our product team to determine whether this how to make a money box at home something that we can do going forward.
Love it! Love it!

We're happy to hear that you enjoy the recurring weekly deposit system - it's certianly a great way to make regular contributions to your account and to see your investments grow! 📈 We're also very glad you enjoy the content we publish - our aim is to help everyone understand how investing for their future can be easy and manageable 😁

Make a Money Box
1. Take the plastic lid off of the tub and place it with the flattest plastic area down closest to the cutting mat bitcoin investing 2022 get keeps the lid more stable when cutting).
Carefully wrap the glued paper around the tub, smoothing the paper with your hand as you go (to investing money in bonds uk any air bubbles) - (hopefully it will overlap a little at the back, if not and there is a gap then cover this with some ribbon or a contrasting strip of paper.) Wipe away any excess glue with kitchen paper, but don't worry too much about it as the glue will dry clear.
