But if you are still a student, a stay at home mum (or dad), or are looking for alternative ways to make money, I’ve got you covered!

Let’s dive into it: here are the best ways to make money in 2020. No matter what your skills are, you can find something that’s right up your alley.

How to make $100 a day: 36 creative ways to make money

Making extra money doesn’t have to be hard. There are lots of money-making opportunities out there.

If you are willing to put an hour or two a day into something you are passionateabout instead of watching Netflix or looking at Instagram, you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve.

And remember:

If you want to reach your goal of making $100 or more a day online (or offline), simply combine a number of these money-making ideas.

And the dollars will add up quickly!

1. Take part in research (up to $150/hour)

If you want to make $100 or more in a day, this is the perfect place to start without much experience or skills!

You can share your opinion in focus groups. Companies are looking for qualified people to join their research studies, and you don’t necessarily need to be a professional to participate.

Last week I received an invite to participate in a beauty study: $150 for an hour of my time! Not bad for answering some questions about my hair care routine!

User Interviews is a legit company that provides qualified research respondents to whoever needs it. And they now recruit people internationally!

The pay goes from $75 for 30 minutes of your time to $450 for very specific one-hour studies.

User Interviews has diverse studies, covering many topics: technology, food, consumer goods, family, software, hobbies, pets, sports, transportation, beauty, social media, music, you name it!

They have some incredible clients, including Pinterest, Spotify, Vistaprint, Wayfair, Thumbtack, and more.

This is how it works:

  1. You apply to participate in studies that you think are a good fit for you.
  2. The researcher/sponsor of the study reviews responses and sends invitations to the best-fit respondents.
  3. If you receive an invitation to participate, you choose a time that suits you from those made available by the researcher.
  4. After you have completed the study, you are paid via PayPal, cash, or Amazon gift cards.

Click here to join User Interviews and get paid for your feedback on real products!

2. Get paid to take surveys

Taking surveys online is an easy, no-brainer way of making extra cash.

I tried many survey sites to see which ones work best. Most survey sites aren’t great. It takes too long to make enough money, and you never qualify. But Swagbucks and Survey Junkie are legit!

They are hands-down my 2 favorite survey companies to make a bit of extra cash!

If you want to make money with surveys, just sign up here:

Swagbucks: my favorite app for surveys and cashback. I made over $200 in less than a year! You’ll get a free $5 bonus when you sign up.

Survey Junkie: a great survey selection to choose from, easy to qualify, and earn money. My favorite survey only website!

These 2 surveys are rated EXCELLENT on Trustpilot and have thousands of reviews! And having tried them both, I have to agree.

Another survey company that I like is LifePoints. It’s available in 40 countries, and there are plenty of surveys to choose from. Each one takes 10 minutes or less.

Most of these surveys can be taken while watching your favorite TV series! You definitely won’t get rich or make 100 dollars a day with surveys alone, but you won’t waste much time, and it will help you get there by making an extra $5-$10 a day!

And if you love surveys as a way to make some quick cash, check out my other favorites here.

3. Become a shopper

26 Easiest Ways to Make Extra Money in Your Spare Time

26 Easiest Ways to Make Extra Money in Your Spare Time

Whether you're a college student, a stay-at-home mom, or a nine-to-fiver, chances are good that two things are true:

  • You don't have a lot of spare time
  • You're looking for ways to make extra money in whatever free time you have

The good news is that you don't need a lot of spare time if you want to earn some extra cash. You can keep your full-time job. Just a little bit of time here and there will suffice.

In some cases, you might even be able to earn an income while you sleep! Or maybe you can make enough to pad your savings account.

Either way, check out this list of creative ways to make extra money in between your day job, full-time college, or taking care of your family. This is easy money you can make in your spare time.

Contents

Earn Money Fast In Your Spare Time

If you're busy from sun up until the time you lay your head on your pillow at night, you might think that a list of ways to make extra money in your spare time is not applicable to you.

After all, between finishing a day at your full-time job, stopping by the grocery store on the way home, cooking dinner, putting the kids to bed, and getting some housework done, you have no spare time to speak of.

The same thought might go through your mind if you're a busy college student or if you work two jobs.

The good news is that you can make some extra money in literally minutes each day.

If you can devote 10 or 15 minutes per day (maybe on your lunch hour or after cleaning up from dinner while the rest of the household is otherwise occupied), you can see your extra cash add up.

Online Surveys

You've seen the ads: Spend a few minutes taking surveys each day and before you know it, you'll have made a full-time income.

Let's be realistic: It doesn't work that way.

You're not going to make bank doing surveys. But they can go on your list of ways to make extra money in your spare time.

How does it work?

Sign up with an online survey company. Then...

The company sends you links to surveys. And many times, you'll need to answer a few questions first to see if you're qualified to take the actual survey.

Try SwagBucks Surveys Here

This is because they might be looking for a certain demographic (i.e. men between the ages of 30 and 50 who work in the insurance industry).

Depending on the company, you'll get paid right away or on a certain date each month. In general, survey payouts are between $0.50 and $5 per survey.

Occasionally, you might qualify to take one that pays out $25 or more, but this is uncommon. Some surveys pay via gift cards to places like Amazon or other online retailers. And others will send you products that you'll be able to keep.

Some companies to consider include Toluna, Springboard Panel, MyPoints, and Ipsos.

If you spend a few minutes each day seeing what surveys are available and you qualify to take one or two per week, it might cover the cost of your Netflix subscription.

Or maybe you'll be able to make nearly $250 in a month, like this survey junkie did. You're not going to get rich taking online surveys, but you can add a few dollars to your income each month with a very small time investment.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is an app that allows you to earn extra cash and gift cards as you do things like watch videos, take short surveys, and surf the Web.

The way it works is...

You earn Swagbucks, which can be turned in for gift cards to places like Amazon, Target, and eBay. You can also choose to cash out via PayPal.

Try SwagBucks Here

Swagbucks is not something that will make you rich by watching a few five-minute videos each day, but over time, the rewards can add up.

If you're going to be looking at websites anyway, you might as well earn a few bucks at the same time by signing up for this free service.

Mechanical Turk

If you're looking for ways to make extra money in just a few minutes per day, Mechanical Turk (MTurk for short) might be worth taking a look at.

The idea is that companies can hire people to complete tasks, called Human Intelligence Tasks (or HITs), that a computer can't do as effectively as a human.

The types of tasks you might do on MTurk are simple, they're just not done as well by a computer.

For example, you might tag certain objects in an image or choose the best image to represent a product. Since they're simple, they don't pay much per task. Maybe you'll make 10 cents to describe what's in an image.

If you can spend 30 minutes per day doing these tasks, however, you could potentially make $100 extra cash over the course of a month or so.

Credit Card Rewards

Do you shop with credit cards? Do you have a good credit score?

If you do, you're probably familiar with credit card rewards.

Many online retailers (as well as brick-and-mortar stores) offer a sign-up bonus for new cardholders. For example, you might be offered 15 percent off of your purchase for signing up for a card.

Amazon sometimes offers $40 or more toward your purchase if you get approved for an Amazon credit card. Some hotel brands might offer you three nights of accommodation if you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days after you receive your card.

Using credit cards responsibly is the key to making this work for you. If you charge a purchase and then pay the minimum payment or, worse, miss a payment, the interest and any late fees will quickly eat up any rewards you've earned!

If you're generally responsible with credit cards, however, this can be a good way to earn extra cash without expending any extra time.

Play Video Games

You're not going to make anywhere close to a full-time living by playing video games (unless you become a professional gamer).

But if you love playing video games after a long day at work, you might as well earn some money doing it, right?

Here are a few sites that will pay you to play:

Get Paid To Read Emails

Yes, you really can get paid to read emails. Companies called Get Paid To (GPT) sites will pay people to open emails and click the links within them.

Here's how it works…

These companies get a commission for each new visitor they send to their advertising partners.

So when you click the links within the emails the company send you, they get a kickback. And that's how they can afford to pay you.

Just be aware that there are companies who act as GPT sites but are actually trying to scam you.

So to help you avoid the scams, here are a few legit GPT sites that will pay you to read emails:

Earn Rewards From Your Groceries

There's a new way to do couponing: earn cash back after buying groceries.

There are apps that are totally free to use that will reward you for grocery shopping.

How does this work?

These apps partner with brands and stores, offer special deals, and incentivize people to shop for those brands and at those stores.

One of the best apps that does this is Fetch Rewards.

You simply upload a picture of your receipt, the app reads the items you've bought, and gives you a certain number of points based on what you bought.

Then you can exchange those points for giftcards or cash them out.

It literally taks about 10 seconds, so it's extra money you're leaving on the table.

Do you have an extra couple of hours each week where you can sit down and concentrate on getting something done to earn some cash?

There are plenty of ways to make extra money in just an hour or two of dedicated time. Check out this list of ideas.

Join a Focus Group

A focus group is when people are asked by a company or organization to come together to discuss a product, a piece of music, a television show, a political campaign, or something of that nature.

Sometimes, companies ask people with something in common to join the group. For example, they might pick random individuals who have all listened to a timeshare presentation in the past 30 days.

Other times, people sign up to be considered for focus groups.

A focus group typically meets for a couple of hours, and the compensation for a meeting might be cash or a gift card. You might make $50 to $100 or more per hour.

Some sites you could sign up with to boost your odds of being chosen for a focus group are:

Write Up Social Media Posts

Are you a master of social media?

If you know your way around Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Reddit, and other popular social media and social blogging sites, you might be surprised to learn that local companies might be willing to pay you for your expertise.

You'll need to know which type of people tend to use different social media sites. You'll also have to understand who your clients' target customers are.

Then it's just a matter of using a site like Buffer to schedule posts on the appropriate platforms throughout the course of the week or month.

Spend an hour or two going through and responding to comments on behalf of your customer, and you will have built yourself a social media marketing business.

How can you find clients?

Think about the businesses you buy from on a regular basis and look them up on social media. If they're not keeping up with their sites or they don't seem to know the nuances of hashtags or how to diversify their content, go in with a proposal.

Once you have clients, you can offer incentives for referrals.

For example, give your client a month's worth of social media posts for free if they refer someone who signs up for a six-month contract. For these types of gigs, word-of-mouth advertising can be your best friend.

Be a Mystery Shopper

Mystery shopping, sometimes called secret shopping, is when an individual is hired to go into a store, restaurant, or another place of business to pose as a customer.

The mystery shopper makes a purchase, taking note of the customer service received, the quality of the item or service, and other factors.

They might need to do something specific, like check the cleanliness of the bathroom or make a return. Once the job is done, they get paid.

If you like shopping, this might sound like a dream job. It doesn't pay a lot; expect to earn about $10 or $15 per shop.

However, you will be reimbursed for your meal if it's a restaurant or the merchandise you were asked to purchase if it's a retail store. You might even get a free hotel stay!

Volition.com is a good place to start if you want to become a mystery shopper. They have lists of reputable companies to sign up with.

If you look at other companies, be sure to avoid those that send cold emails or that charge for a list of shopping tasks. Both of these are signs of a scam.

Take Stock Photos

Do you enjoy taking photographs? Even more importantly, are you good at it?

If your idea of a nice weekend afternoon is to spend a few hours snapping photos of landscapes, people, pets, or anything else, you might be able to turn it into a money-making opportunity.

Websites like Getty Images or Shutterstock list photos from freelance photographers on their sites.

When individuals, marketing agencies, or small businesses want to use the photos on their websites or their brochures, they pay a fee. As the photographer, you get part of that fee.

A photo that you take in January might be purchased for use in February, twice in April, twice in August, and four times in December. So over the course of the year, that one photo might be used nine times.

Of course, you could sell the photo dozens (or even hundreds) of times or not at all. Putting up more photos will raise your odds of making extra cash.

You can check out this primer to make money selling pictures and on the companies worth submitting to, along with how much they pay and how likely you are to have your work accepted.

Create and Sell Some Crafts

Are you crafty? If you like to spend time on the weekends sewing, woodworking, painting, soapmaking, or creating just about anything, consider making a business out of it.

You could craft all year and sell your wares at holiday bazaars. Or you could list them on a site like Etsy to make sales all year long.

Think about choosing a niche. What can you specialize in that isn't already overrun on the market? What problem could you solve?

Consider these possibilities:

  • Christmas ornaments, wreaths, or decorations
  • Wreaths for any time of the year (think flowers for spring and colorful foliage for fall)
  • Quilts (to be used as blankets, tablecloths, place mats, or anything else)
  • Crocheted items, such as scarves or dishcloths
  • Knitted items like hats, socks, or sweaters
  • Embroidered pillows or napkins
  • Handmade dolls
  • Framed, drawn pictures of people, places, or things
  • Decorated baskets or bins for home organization
  • Wooden items like napkin holders, trays, or wall plaques (buy these already made and paint them to decorate, if you like)
  • Flower arrangements using real or silk flowers
  • Items featuring a specific theme, such as things made from fabric with cows on it or purple items

Confetti Momma was started by Courtney Orillian, a woman who noticed the desires of others to have party supplies that rivaled those found on sites like Pinterest.

So she and her husband created an Etsy store to provide handmade party supplies to people who don't have the time, energy, or talent to create them themselves.

Is there a need that you can meet with whatever crafts you enjoy doing?

Think about how you could devote a couple of hours each week toward fleshing it out into a small business as one of the ways to make extra money.

Knock Out Some Tasks on Fiverr

Sign up for an account on Fiverr.com and look through the listings to see what types of tasks people are offering up for five bucks. Can you do any of those?

Many of the tasks listed could be done in 15 minutes or less, which would allow you to earn a cool $20 in the span of an hour.

What types of jobs are featured on Fiverr? You can be creative, but some of the popular categories include:

  • Digital marketing
  • Graphics and design
  • Freelance writing
  • Video and animation

You could give online lessons or do an astrology reading. You can even give tips on succeeding at your favorite video game. If someone will pay $5, you're golden!

Here are a few ideas that you could use to make five dollars at a time:

  • Come up with five ideas for blog posts. Don't actually write the blog posts for $5; just give the client a list of title or topic ideas.
  • Write three to five social media posts. If you enjoy posting on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you could probably knock this out in five minutes.
  • Write a haiku, limerick, or some other verse for a greeting card. You could offer verses that would be good for a birthday card, a love letter, or a funny “thinking of you” card.
  • Take a photo of you holding a sign next to a local landmark. This is particularly good if you live near a tourist attraction.
  • Make a list of restaurants or attractions in your local area for people who are visiting your city or town. You could write up a comprehensive piece and just sell the same piece over and over again.
earn extra money

If you have enough time to consider getting a part-time job, you might instead look for ways to make extra money without taking on another employer.

Do keep in mind that getting a job where you make tips (such as delivering pizzas or waiting tables) can allow you to make a higher hourly wage than you'd get paid at other types of part-time jobs.

Here are some other ways to make extra money while freelancing or otherwise being your own boss.

Mow Lawns or Do Handy Work

Selling your labor on the weekends or after work is a great way to make extra money in your spare time.

If you have lawn equipment or a toolbox, consider offering up these services.

Depending on where you live, you might be able to charge $20 to $30 per hour or even more.

What can you do? Check out some of these ideas:

  • Mow, trim, and blow lawns. Make sure you square up the edges and don't leave clippings in the driveway because those extra touches can boost your reputation.
  • Repair fences.
  • Weed gardens.
  • Pressure wash driveways or houses.
  • Tighten doorknobs, replace loose flush handles on toilets, or change lightbulbs that require a ladder to reach them.
  • Hang pictures on walls.
  • Replace central air conditioning vents.
  • Vacuum out dryer exhaust fans.
  • Install shelving or put in a closet organizer that has been purchased in advance.
  • Paint rooms.

Think of all of the things you have done in your own home that might be cumbersome or downright impossible for someone who has no tools or no experience.

Market yourself on Facebook or Craigslist, or simply spread the word among your contacts.

If you have a wide range of skills, you can probably rack up a nice little side business relatively quickly.
You might do better than you think.

Dave Ramsey told a story on his YouTube show about a Florida man who built up a $2 million net worth by mowing lawns. Even if you're not able to rack up enough business to turn your side gig into a full-time job, you can still make a pretty good income.

Clean Homes

Cleaning houses is another good way to earn money.

Busy people will pay someone else to come in and spend time scrubbing bathrooms, mopping floors, washing walls, and knocking down cobwebs.

If you don't mind cleaning your own home and would like to get paid to clean other people's, try to spread the word via your contacts.

You can charge by the hour or by the size (and, let's be honest, the cleanliness) of the home.

There are pros and cons to both business models:

  • Consider that if you charge by the hour, you could be penalizing yourself for being a fast worker. If you're not a fast worker, your client might suspect that you are padding your time.
  • But charging by the project, maybe selling yourself short…or you might end up doing better than you thought you would.

Don't worry too much about the first few jobs; use them to gauge how long it takes you to complete a home. Then you'll be able to charge more effectively next time.

Depending on where you are located and the income levels of the people you work for, you can probably charge from $25 to $100 per hour or up to a few hundred for a moderately large home.

Drive for Uber or Lyft

Uber and Lyft have taken over the ride-sharing industry.

If you have a late-model car, you can cash in on these money-making opportunities. Basically, you sign up and make yourself available whenever you want to try to pick up people needing rides.

Some estimates say that drivers make about $15 per hour if they're reasonably busy.

You can boost your income by choosing to work on the weekends or during special events in your area. If you are willing to drive to the nearest airport, that's another good way to keep yourself busy during your “on” times.

One good tip for minimizing your competition is to park a block or two away from special events, preferably close to bars and restaurants where people might head to after the event is over.

Keep in mind that it's not just the base fare that will make you money with Uber and Lyft. You can earn tips, too.

Some ways to increase your odds of getting a tip include keeping Android and iPhone chargers in the car, offering your clients bottled water, and opening the back doors for them.

Sell Produce at the Farmer's Market

Do you have a garden? If you have a green thumb, putting in extra rows of zucchini, tomatoes, or corn could help you out come harvest time.

Purchase a spot at your local farmer's market and sell your produce. You'll be earning extra cash while helping others in your community eat fresh, local food.

While you're at the market, you can give out advice on growing whatever it is that you're selling. This will position you as someone approachable in the area and you might be able to bring in more business via word-of-mouth.

You'll already be at the market anyway, so it won't take up any extra time and you might be able to upsell your goods.

You don't have to limit yourself to just produce at the market, either. If you make soap, dip candles, bake bread, raise bees for honey, or design jewelry, you might fit right in.

Just find out ahead of time what types of vendors there are and whether you need a license in your area to sell food.

Become a Virtual Assistant

If you're looking for a work-at-home job, becoming a virtual assistant should be on your list of ways to earn extra money.

You could do this just a few hours per week or you could turn it into a full-time job. A virtual assistant does what any other kind of assistant does, but they do it online.

You might be the assistant to someone in California, Ohio, Bangkok, London, or just about anywhere else.

Some of the tasks that virtual assistants take on include:

  • Email management
  • Arranging travel
  • Graphic design
  • Ghostwriting
  • Editing
  • Bookkeeping
  • Data entry
  • Social media management

When you first start out, you will likely need to hustle and go out of your way to promote yourself.

As time goes on, however, you can build up a steady client base. At that point, you could decide to take your gig full time. It's up to you!

Virtual assistants can set their own hourly fees, so you'll need to experiment to see what works for you and for your clients.

Starting off, be prepared to make $10 or $15 per hour. After you begin to learn the ropes and offer more services to your clients, you can find yourself charging $50 to $100 per hour or even more.

Become a Pet Sitter

Do you have pets of your own or do you love animals? If so, being a pet sitter and dog walker might be the perfect part-time job for you.

You can watch the animals at your own home or arrange to go to your clients' homes to feed, water, walk, and clean up after their furry family members while the rest of the household is traveling.

Signing up with a site like Rover.com will allow potential pet sitting clients to find you. To boost your chances of getting a job, add photos and if you've sat for pets before, ask their owners to leave a testimonial.

Pet-sitters can charge per night for overnight accommodation or per visit if you're stopping by your clients' homes.

Particularly if you have your own pets and you host four-legged visitors at your home, caring for other people's animals won't add much time or effort to your day, since you'll be feeding, watering, petting, and walking your own pets anyway!

Either way, it can be pretty good money.

earn extra money

One of the best ways to earn extra money is to do it while you sleep.

This is called passive income, but the term is a bit of a misnomer.

While you can get to the point of pulling in a good income while you are out jogging, on a plane to Rome, or enjoying drinks with an old friend, you do have to put in a good bit of legwork first.

Check out these ways to earn extra money by investing some time now that could result in a steady stream of income later.

Write an Ebook

One of the ways to earn extra money that trickles in while you're off doing something else is to write an ebook.

Even better, write a number of ebooks. The more you have published, the more passive income you can potentially earn.

The way it works is that you will upload your finished book to a platform like Kindle Publishing or Apple iPublishing.

You'll get a percentage of each sale (70 percent for Apple and 35 to 70 percent for Kindle, depending on the list price).

In theory, you could write a book (or several books) and collect royalties on it each month. And in reality, you'll probably need to spend some time marketing your ebook, at least until you have a lot of good reviews.

Some marketing techniques are passive (like Facebook ads), while others require more work (like keeping up a blog). Check out these tips on ways to make extra money writing ebooks.

Rent Out a Room in Your Home

Whether you own or rent your home, if you have an extra bedroom, you could monetize it.

While it's not passive income in the traditional sense, you are paying for the space anyway, so you might as well make money on it by renting it out.

There are a couple of ways you can do this:

  1. Rent the room on a monthly basis and include kitchen privileges. This creates little extra work for you: you do your thing, your tenant does their thing, and you collect the rent each month.
  2. List your room on a site like Airbnb. If you're just renting out the room, you will have visitors while you are home in most cases.

Most hosts provide coffee and, in some cases, breakfast items. You'll need to provide towels, clean linens, and some other niceties. You'll also have a steady stream of different people staying in your home (if you're lucky).

If you travel frequently or you have another place that you call home, you could rent out the entire house for weekends or a week at a time.

This will add to your workload, as you'll need to arrange for the home to be cleaned and the linens changed after each guest leaves, but it will also add to your income.

Renters will need to ask their landlords for permission to sublet part of the home, and if you own your home, you might need to check with your local zoning board to find out if it's permissible to list it with a site like Airbnb.

Still, these are good ways to earn extra money fairly passively.

Invest in Real Estate

If you have a nest egg set aside, you could use it to make a little extra money by investing in real estate.

It's also possible to use a loan to invest in the real estate market, but it's riskier and harder to make a lot of money.

Depending on how much money you have available, you might choose to focus on residential or commercial real estate investing.

With residential investing, you can make money in a few different ways…

One is by purchasing a property at a low price and either rehabbing the home or waiting for the market to go up, then flipping it.

There are risks involved, of course: the market could crash or property values could otherwise go down while you're waiting, or you could find that the house requires much more work than you originally thought.

Another is by becoming a landlord and renting out the property. You could do this with a single-family home, a multi-family home, or a larger complex, such as one with condominiums or apartments.

You would need to collect rental payments and handle repairs. Or you could hire a property management company to handle these tasks.

Commercial properties are another source of income. You might purchase a building and rent out space to business owners. Or you might buy, for example, a restaurant or a hotel and collect payments from the business profits.

There are many ways to make extra money by investing in the real estate market, but it's not something you should do without the advice of a real estate attorney or another professional.

Create a YouTube Channel

There are people who film their daily lives and get paid to do it.

How? They upload their material to YouTube and they get paid depending on how many times their videos are viewed.

As traffic grows, advertisers are willing to pay more for their ads and the potential for income continues to grow.

It's largely a matter of luck when it comes to who makes money on their YouTube channel and who doesn't.

The content matters, but all sorts of channels can be lucrative.

For example, some popular channels focus on video games, makeup tutorials, housecleaning, DIY projects, product reviews and dog training.

There are some tips that can help you make the most of your channel as you look for ways to earn extra income with YouTube:

  • Upload videos frequently. The more material you have up, the more views you're likely to get. As people watch one video and they like it, they might then go and look at your other material.
  • Be professional. While quantity is important, quality is just as vital, if not more so. Learn how to use video editing software; don't just slap up whatever you record with your iPhone. People will lose interest and look for something more polished.
  • Develop your brand. Make a logo and have a theme. Even if you are uploading vlogs of your everyday life, have some type of a focus. Consider starting a blog and social media accounts that go along with your channel.

Now, you might be thinking, “this does not sound like passive income!”

Right, having a YouTube channel is work. However, you'll be making royalties off of your older videos as you upload new ones, so the income you're making is actually passive.

If you have a successful channel, you could end up bringing in a nice income, so it might be worth the investment.

Plus, you can implement affiliate marketing. Partner with a company you're passionate about, drop your affiliate link in the description of each video, and earn money.

Create an Online Course

Another way to earn money by using videos is to create an online course.

Think about what you're good at and what you can teach others. Make a video or audio course that lays out your topic step-by-step.

Once the work is done, you can upload it on a site like Udemy. People will go to the site looking for courses to take and some might sign up for yours.

While you sleep, play with your children, walk your dog, wash your dishes, or work at your day job, you could be raking in extra money as users take your class.

How much can you make?

Rob Cubbon says that he makes $5,000 of passive income per month with his online courses. Watch his slideshow about how he creates, markets, and makes money from his courses. You'll even see tips on how creating free courses can end up helping you make extra money.

Buy a Laundromat

One of the ways to passively earn extra money that many people don't think about is to buy a laundromat.

Now, you're going to need some capital to put down to buy the business in the first place.

But once you get it up and running, you can make a pretty penny without being there.

There are some hefty expenses that go along with buying a laundromat, so it's important that you know what you're getting into.

In addition to repairs for expensive machinery, you're going to have high electric and water bills. You'll also want to hire attendants and maybe people to do the dry cleaning or to run a wash-and-fold service.

We actually made a complete guide for how to start a laundromat that you may want to check out.

Start a Vending Machine Business

When you go to get your tires replaced and you get hungry or thirsty, there's usually a handy vending machine in the waiting area.

You might also see vending machines in hotels, apartment complexes, schools, and even in your office building.

What you might not realize is that these machines are not owned and stocked by the owners of the companies. Instead, a vendor sets up the machine, maintains it, and keeps it full of good things to eat and drink.

If you started a vending machine business, you'd be making an income while you're off doing other things.

You'd just need to fill the machine every week (or whatever frequency is needed) and rake in the profits.

Don't think you'd be limited to Fritos, Oreos, and Coca-Cola products, either. There are vending machines for just about everything.

Some of the more unique vending machines carry the morning-after pill, medical marijuana, raw milk, mashed potatoes, hair extensions, and shoes.

It might seem intimidating to become a business owner. But you can learn how to start a vending machine business by reading this guide on the topic.

30. Sell your electronics. While purging and organizing, we came across old laptops and other electronics. You can sell these items online or donate for a tax deduction, both options equal real money!

Ready? Let’s dive into it!

Online side hustle ideas

Online side hustles are a great idea if your schedule is already pretty full up with your regular job. You can work from the comfort of your own home, and on your own schedule. Here are some of the best online side hustle ideas

1. Start a blog

Ok, so I might be a little biased, but blogging is one of the best ways to make some extra money online. Don’t get me wrong, starting a blog isn’t super easy – it takes a lot of work. However, once you get it up and running, it can potentially earn you upwards of $1000 a month. The top blogs even make over $1M per year.

You can monetize your blog by selling products, running ads, promoting your affiliates, and more. All you need to do is choose a niche that you’d like to write about and get started.

The great thing about starting a blog is that you can write about literally anything that interests you, so it can be a really fun hobby as well as a side hustle. For example, Tone Island is a niche blog about guitar gear – if you have an interest, chances are you can create a blog about it.

Tone Island - Start a blog side hustle idea

How to get started

First, you’ll need to choose a domain name and a hosting plan. You can do this through sites like Bluehost and GoDaddy. After that, you can use WordPress to build your site.

Once your website is up and running, you can start researching and writing articles to drive traffic to your blog. Once you have enough traffic, you can monetize it.

This is a very brief overview, but there’s a lot more to know about successfully starting a blog. Check out our step-by-step guide on how to start a blog to learn more.

If you’ve already started a blog, be sure to check out our article on the best ways to monetize a blog.

2. Become a proofreader

Proofreading is a great side hustle for people that love to read and those who have great attention to detail. With so much digital content being produced every day, the demand for proofreading services is high. Proofreading can pay anywhere from around $20 and upwards, with more prestigious jobs paying as much as hundreds of dollars.

Usually, proofreaders work on a freelance basis and are paid per project. You can find proofreading jobs on sites like Clickworker, Upwork, and Fiverr.

How to get started

Sign up for a freelancing marketplace like Fiverr or Upwork. Fill out your profile with your experience and relevant skills and you should find some projects in no time.

3. Offer social media management services

With over 70% of the US using social media every day, demand for skilled social media managers is higher than it’s ever been. It’s imperative in this day and age for businesses to have a good social media presence, but many businesses just don’t have the time and resources to devote to it. That’s where social media managers come in.

They manage everything from posting and creating content to interacting with followers and responding to comments. Some skilled social media managers even manage social media ad campaigns and collaborations for their clients. If you’re an Instagram addict or Facebook fanatic, it may be the perfect role for you.

Many social media managers do it as a full-time job and work with many clients at once. However, if you want to do it as a side-hustle, you can just work with one or two clients at a time so that the workload doesn’t become too demanding. Most social media managers charge between $20 and $50 per hour.

How to get started

The easiest way to find clients as a social media manager is to sign up for a freelancer marketplace like Upwork. Fill out your profile with relevant skills and examples of your previous work. You may also want to invest in a good social media management tool to make managing your workload easier and more organized.

4. Start an ecommerce store

Starting an e-commerce store is a lot of work. However, if you put in the effort, it can turn into a really lucrative side hustle. In fact, it can potentially even generate enough of an income that you can ditch your day job entirely.

The basic principle is pretty straightforward. It goes like this:

  1. Find a product that there’s a lot of demand for
  2. Buy the product in bulk from suppliers at wholesale prices
  3. Market and sell it online at a marked-up retail price
  4. Enjoy the profits

Of course, there’s a lot more to it than just that.

How to get started

To start an ecommerce store, you’ll need to spend a lot of time planning and preparing your business strategy.

You’ll need to find and validate a product idea by conducting careful market research, research the competition, determine your pricing and product margins, figure out what marketing channels you’re going to focus on, put together a marketing strategy, and more.

Once you’ve got a solid business plan in place, you can start to build your high-converting online storefront.

There are various ecommerce platforms you can use for this. BigCommerce is the best option for most stores, however, if you need a simple store, I’d recommend trying Sellfy.

5. Sell a digital product

Digital products are non-physical assets you can sell online repeatedly without having to restock your inventory. We’re talking about things like subscription/membership sites, software, ebooks, stock photos, videos, blueprints, PDFs, etc.

The great thing about selling digital products as a side hustle is there are very few overheads. You only have to write an ebook once, but you can sell it a thousand times without having to pay any further production costs.

Plus, unlike selling physical products, you don’t have to stock digital products, which means there’s no need for physical premises or warehouses to store them. As such, it’s a lot more flexible.

How to get started

First, you’ll need to figure out exactly what type of digital product you want to sell. I can’t offer you any specific recommendations here as there are so many possibilities. Just make sure to validate your idea before you commit by making sure it’s not too competitive and there’s a real demand for what you’re selling.

Next, you’ll need to build your store. Selling digital downloads requires different website features and functions than selling regular physical products, so you’ll need the right tools for the job. We’ve already compiled a list of the best ecommerce platforms to sell digital products – choose one of these platforms to create your store and go from there.

6. Start a YouTube channel

Did you know that YouTube is the most visited site in the world? It’s no surprise then that there is a lot of money to be made on the platform. Starting your own YouTube channel can be a great way to earn some extra cash.

In order to make money on YouTube, you need to be able to create decent, high-quality content, so a creative mind and a little knowledge of video editing are required.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to how much you can earn on YouTube. If you put in the time and effort to grow your channel and gain subscribers, you can earn a lot from sponsorships and YouTube advertising.

How to get started

Create a YouTube account and add some channel art to your channel. Then, plan and film some content and upload it. You won’t be able to start earning right away, but once your channel has reached over 4,000 viewed hours and 1,000 subscribers you can begin monetizing your content.

7. Become a transcriptionist

If you’re not up for making your own YouTube videos, you could try becoming a transcriptionist and writing subtitles for videos instead. As a transcriptionist, you can work from home, watch clips and episodes of video content, and get paid for it. All you have to do is transcribe the audio in each clip. It’s a pretty easy side hustle and you have the potential to earn around $10+/hour.

Rev.com - Become a transcriptionist side hustle idea

How to get started

Sign up for a transcription service like Rev.com and complete the application process. If your transcription skills are up to speed, you can start taking paid jobs.

8. Grow a social media following

Growing a social media following can be tough, but once you’ve built up a good community, making money is a breeze. If you’re already a whizz with social media sites like Instagram then growing an account to a monetizable level shouldn’t be too difficult.

Simply pick a niche, upload high-quality content consistently and your follower count should steadily grow. Once your followers exceed around 10,000, you can start reaching out to brands and companies for sponsorships and collaborations.

How to get started

Start a social media account or spruce up the one you already have. Create a content plan and do some research into how you can boost your following. Then start posting and reaching out to brands once your follower count is high enough.

Remember, this isn’t an overnight side hustle, it will take time to grow your account, but it can be a serious moneymaker once you’ve got enough followers.

You’ll need one of these social media schedulers to help you save time.

9. Become a site tester

Businesses are keen to ensure that their websites work well and are easily accessible for users. As a result, there is a large demand for site testers that can test sites before they go live. Becoming a site tester is quite easy, and you don’t need a particular set of skills to get started. As long as you are computer literate, you could earn upwards $20/hour as a site tester.

How to get started

Apply to become a site tester on sites like Usertesting.com. Complete the training period and start completing the tests. You may also be asked to take part in live interviews which pay even more than the tests.

10. Teach English online

For native speakers of English, teaching English online is one of the easiest side hustles to get started with. Jobs are abundant, and most pay in excess of $15/hour.

Since most jobs are available for teaching children in Asia, hours can be a little unsociable depending on your location. You may have to work early in the morning or late at night. However, if you’re trying to fit it in around your regular working schedule, this could be just what you need.

In most cases, you don’t need any previous teaching experience, if you speak English natively, and can chat to children and help them learn, then this will be just fine. It also helps if you have a bachelor’s degree and a TEFL certificate.

How to get started

Check out current job listings on sites like RemotelyWorking. Apply for your chosen job, complete the recruitment process, and get started. Getting hired as an English teacher online can often take less than a week.

11.  Become a freelance writer

Freelance writers are in very high demand right now, which makes this a great side hustle idea. There are many different types of freelance writers, but I’d recommend focusing on content writing or copywriting – this is where the greatest demand is at the moment.

Content writers create informative, useful content for marketing purposes. This includes things like blog posts, articles, ebooks, and whitepapers.

Copywriters focus more on the ‘selling’ side of things. They craft compelling, persuasive web copy to help businesses sell more products. This includes promotional materials, landing page copy, email copy, and more.

Experienced freelance copy and content writers can earn upwards of $0.10 per word. That means that, for a 2,000-word article, you can get paid $200. If you can write one of those a day (trust me, it’s doable), that’s an extra $1,400 per week in your pocket. Not bad, right?

How to get started

The first step in getting started as a freelance writer is to create a portfolio of work. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any paid experience as a writer just yet. For now, you can create your own free website, self-publish blog posts to that website, and use that as your portfolio. Just make sure you learn how to write great blog posts first.

Once you have a portfolio, you can start bidding for jobs on freelance job websites like Upwork or Freelancer. There’s a ton of available work on these kinds of platforms so it shouldn’t take long to land your first gig.

I’d recommend pitching low rates at the start while you build up your experience and get a portfolio of bylined articles under your belt. After that, you can start charging more and earning big bucks.

12. Become a content editor

This one’s similar to the above, except that this time, you won’t be writing the content yourself – you’ll be editing other people’s work.

If you’re a perfectionist by nature with strong writing skills and a great eye for detail, you can become a content editor and start getting paid to read over and edit written content.

Your job will be to pick out any spelling or grammatical errors, tidy up the content, make sure it adheres to your client’s style guidelines, and generally get it ready for publication. You might also be required to optimize it for search and upload it to your client’s website.

It might sound difficult, but it’s all stuff you can learn fairly quickly. Many content writers and editors are completely self-taught.

How to get started

Again, the steps here are similar to getting started as a content writer. You’ll need some samples of your work to show clients, so start by creating a portfolio. You can use blog posts you’ve written, edited, and published yourself as samples in the beginning then expand your portfolio to include paid work once you’ve landed your first few jobs.

Content editors can find work on freelance platforms like Upwork as well as with publishers and media companies.

13. Start a dropshipping business

Another way to earn extra money online is to start a dropshipping business. Like running an eCommerce store, dropshipping involves selling products to consumers.

The difference is that with dropshipping, you don’t have to actually stock the products yourself. Instead, your supplier fulfills the order for you and ships the product directly to your customers.

The basic premise is that you market and sell products to customers at a marked-up price. Whenever you get a sale, you place an order with your vendor and have them ship it directly to the customer. The price you pay to your vendor is less than the price you sell for, so you pocket the difference as profit.

The advantage of this method is that you don’t have to pay for a warehouse to stock your products or purchase stock in advance, which makes it a low-risk venture.

How to get started

Here are the basic steps to starting a dropshipping business:

  1. Find a product you want to sell and validate your product idea
  2. Find a supplier that offers dropshipping retail fulfillment for that product
  3. Set up an online store from which you can sell that product
  4. Launch a marketing campaign to drive traffic to your store and generate sales
  5. Take the profits!

Of course, there’s a little more to it than that. Dropshipping is a competitive industry and finding a gap in the market where you can make sales and still make a decent profit margin is tough.

You’ll need to spend some time planning your business strategy to make sure you know what you’re doing before you get started.

14. Sell print-on-demand goods

Selling print-on-demand goods is similar to dropshipping but for a specific kind of product. If you’re a talented artist or graphic designer, this could be a great side hustle.

The idea is to create designs for products like t-shirts and mugs and then sell them through a print-on-demand service. Once a customer orders the product, you have it printed and shipped to them

Because you don’t pay for the product to be printed with your design until you’ve already made a sale, it’s a low-risk business model that requires little to no investment.

Printful - Sell print on demand goods side hustle idea

How to get started

To start selling print-on-demand goods, you’ll need to sign up to print-on-demand services/platforms like Printful or Redbubble and list your designs.

Alternatively, if you’d like to sell your own digital or physical products as well, I’d recommend checking out Sellfy. It’s a simple yet affordable way to launch an ecommerce store, and offers print-on-demand goods.

15. Write an ebook

Another great way to earn extra money online passively is to write and sell an ebook.

How-to and educational ebooks are a great option as there’s always a ton of demand for them. Try to find a gap in the market – a need that’s not currently being met – and create an ebook on that topic.

You can write it yourself or commission someone else to do it for you. There are lots of freelance platforms out there where you can list the job and find a professional author to write it.

Good writers will charge anything from $0.05 to $0.50 per word, and the average how-to or self-help book is around 40,000 words, so expect to pay at least a couple of thousand dollars initially if you outsource it.

How to get started

First, write your ebook. Then, self-publish it and list it for sale on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing or any other platform you want to focus on. To generate your first few sales and get some momentum, you might want to promote it yourself by running an ad campaign.

16. Become an online consultant

If you have a particular area of expertise, and you want to monetize your knowledge then you might want to consider offering online consultancy services. You can become a consultant in any industry as long as there is a need for it.

For example, if you have a lot of experience as an HR manager, then you may be able to offer consultancy services to new businesses that are building up an HR department.

The great thing about consultancy work is that you’re free to work completely on your own schedule and take meetings whenever you have the time. And, because you’re an expert in your consultancy field, consultancy fees are usually very high. Great pay and flexibility make it the perfect combination for a side hustle.

How to get started

To get started as a consultant it’s a good idea to create a website and list your services and experience. You should also spruce up your LinkedIn profile so that you can use it to network and find clients to work with.

17. Launch an online course

Online courses are in high demand right now, so if you think you have some valuable knowledge to share that people would be willing to pay for, this might be a great option.

The great thing about selling online courses is you only have to invest your time and money in the initial stage while you’re getting set up. Once your online course is created and listed online, you can sell it again and again and again without spending another dime. It can also start to bring in money passively and become a passive income source.

How to get started

All you need to do to get started is create your course using an online course platform. Some platforms like Thinkific will even allow you to create and launch a course for free. You can sell your course via a dedicated landing page, or market it via social media, email, or search.

18. Become a translator

If you speak another language, it’s pretty easy to find jobs online that can help you to boost your income. No matter what language you speak, there is always a demand for translation services. Most online work for translators is translating web content for businesses that are looking to branch out and reach new demographics.

If you’re fluent in both English and another language, it’s a pretty easy way to make some extra cash online. What languages you speak will determine how much you are paid but most translators earn around $20/hour.

How to get started

Create a profile on sites like Upwork and Fiverr. Search for jobs and bid on projects that you think are a good fit for your skillset.

19. Complete jobs on Mechanical Turk

Amazon Mechanical Turk is a site that helps businesses to complete tasks like Image and video processing, data clarification and cleanup, and information gathering. If you sign up for Mechanical Turk as a worker, you can complete micro-tasks like transcription, data deduplication, and research in your spare time.

Mechanical Turk - Complete jobs side hustle idea

The tasks on Mechanical Turk are usually microtasks. They take a small amount of time to complete and pay less than a dollar per task. However, if you have a few hours per day to commit to completing these tasks, it’s possible to earn between $150 and $300 per week.

How to get started

Simply follow this link and sign up as an Amazon Mechanical Turk worker and start completing jobs.

20. Become a voiceover artist

Voiceovers are used regularly in advertising and video content, and most companies outsource their voiceover creation to freelancers. It’s quite easy to find voiceover projects online, so if you’re a smooth talker, then it could be worth a shot.

You’ll need a decent microphone and an extremely quiet recording space. This will help to ensure that all of your recordings are high-quality and professional. As a voiceover artist, you can expect to earn upwards of $20 per recording.

How to get started

List your services on sites like Fiverr. Check out some other voiceover artists to determine your prices and extra fees. If you don’t have much experience, price your services competitively to attract new clients and build your portfolio.

21. Offer web design services

If you have some experience with web design, then you could make a lot of money as a freelance web designer in your free time. Web designers are always in high demand, and it’s pretty easy to find freelance projects that you can complete in your spare time.

Also, as there is some level of skill and experience required for this job, freelance web designers are usually paid well for their services. Many freelance web designers work freelance full-time, so it should be easy to find enough clients to fill your time if you’re just looking to freelance as a side hustle.

How to get started

Create a portfolio website showcasing your work, and sign up for freelancer marketplaces like Upwork and Fiverr. Browse the job listing and bid for jobs that you think will be a good fit for your skillset. If you’re still new to web design, price your services competitively to build up your portfolio.

22. Offer graphic designs services

This is the perfect side hustle for artists, as it is a great way to earn money and utilize your creative design skills. As a freelance graphic designer, you can work on a variety of business logos and branding elements, merchandise, and more.

In order to get jobs, you’ll need to know your way around design programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, but if you already have these skills you should find it easy to find clients. How much you earn will depend on the project, but graphic designers tend to be well paid for their services

How to get started

Compile your designs and create an online portfolio to show to potential clients. Search for jobs on sites like Upwork and Fiverr.

23. Start a Twitch stream

If you love gaming, then Twitch streaming will be your dream side hustle. Twitch is a community for live streaming. Most people stream gaming, but some people stream themselves cooking, walking, or just hanging out.

If you have a good following on Twitch, it’s easy to make money. Firstly, your followers can make donations to your channel, which is quite common. You can also score sponsorship deals and earn money that way.

Unless you already have an online following, Twitch won’t be an overnight moneymaker, but if you stick at it and build your following, it can turn into a legitimate income source.

You need to ensure you’ve organised everything to comply with the law to ensure you’re qualified to work with and look after young children – from contacting Ofsted to applications for relevant registers. A lot of information is available online, such as this feature by Childcare.co.uk.

27. Doula

If you’ve had a baby and would like to support new mothers, you can become a doula – a birth partner and post-birth partner. A short course with British Doulas alongside your experience as a mum will help you become a ‘professional mother’ (N.B. this is not a medical profession). If you think you have the personal skills to support women and their families with childbirth and the immediate post-natal period then this is worth looking into.

28. Handyman/woman

Let people know you’re available for small DIY jobs, whether it’s fixing a leaky tap or putting up shelves. It might amaze you what minor household tasks people are willing to pay for. Private social network NextDoor is a place for neighbours and communities to connect – take a look as it could be a great place to advertise your services and find work.

29. Sell unwanted items

It’s a pretty obvious one, but sell anything you don’t need any more! Car boot sales, garage sales, eBay, local Facebook Marketplace pages – if you haven’t used it in the last year then consider parting with it.

30. Work out your valuables

Inherited some antiques or have a significant collection that might be worth something? Get an expert to price up your treasures so you know how much they might fetch should you ever choose to part ways with them.

31. Sell your wedding dress

If you’re prepared to part with it, a wedding dress can be a worthwhile sale when it comes to making some extra cash. Many brides can’t afford the extortionate prices of bridal shops and would be happy to consider buying a dress that’s only been worn once.

32. Rent equipment

Rent out any equipment that people might need for a one-off task e.g. tools, garden equipment, etc. There are websites designed specifically to put lenders in touch with borrowers, such as Fat Llama. You could even go as far as beginning to rent your car.

33. Rent a room

If you have a spare room, converted garage or basement, you could capitalise on the sharing economy and rent out your space on trusted sites such as Airbnb or HomeAway. The more central you are to a city, town or place of interest, the more chance you have of increasing your rate. Make sure happy visitors leave glowing reviews on your online ad.

34. Rent out storage space

If you have any spare space in your loft, garage, shed or spare room, it’s worth having a look at websites such as Storemates. Free to register, it takes 15% of the monthly rent but takes a lot of the admin etc. off your hands. It’s also 50% cheaper than commercial self-storage so there should be a decent demand on your doorstep.

Depending on the size of your space, you could earn between £25-£200 a month. Another site to look at is Storenextdoor (again, free to register, it takes 23% of the monthly rental to cover its services).

35. Rent out your driveway

If you live somewhere where parking’s tight and expensive, offer up a space to rent on your driveway. This could be long-term for commuters or short-term for a sports fixture. JustPark, Parklet and Your Parking Space are good starting points but ensure you are advised on aspects such as mortgage requirements, insurance and tax. If you have a designated parking space, this could also be an option for rental.

36. Gardening services

Love being outdoors but not too far from home? Offer to maintain your neighbours’ gardens for a weekly / monthly fee or a one-off. Clearing, planting, mowing – there’s a lot of business for these labour-intensive jobs that many people would prefer to avoid.

37. Dog walker/Pet sitter

Love dogs and the outdoors? Helping a pooch get some exercise and/or looking after them is a great way to make some extra cash – especially if you’re responsible for more than one. Providing a sitting service appeals to a large proportion of pet owners who have to travel for work, work long hours and go on holiday.

Dog walking is also a reliable service for the elderly who may find it difficult to exercise their companions daily, especially in colder weather. Public liability insurance is essential in case something happens to your dog/s or the public while they’re in your care.

38. Dog/cat groomer

A job most pet owners hate to do! You don’t need any set entry requirements for this line of work but you should have experience with dogs and cats. A basic course in animal care at a college or training centre would be recommended, as well as some work experience with a qualified, experienced pet groomer.

39. Plant sitting

Offer to look after indoor and outdoor plants while homeowners are on holiday, especially during the summer months when gardens need a good soak of water.

40. Yoga teacher

Turn your spare room into a yoga studio for individual lessons, or small classes if you have the room. If business goes well, you could look to create a studio in your garden! If you’re looking for training, a good start is The British Wheel of Yoga, which provides qualifications that are the highest level of yoga teacher training currently available in the UK. It’s important to ensure you’re setting your business up safely from home so make sure you’re considering elements such as any relevant insurance and planning permission.

41. Ironing service

Most people hate ironing and would happily part with some cash to have it taken care for them. Invest in a quality iron and ironing board then advertise locally and ask your friends and family to spread the word.

Maybe it’s your entrepreneurial spirit. Maybe you heard about 20-year-old Addison Rae’s Tesla Model X, fun making money ideas. Maybe you got that “screen time” notification (the one where your phone passive aggressively tells you you’re addicted to the internet) and said, “Hey, might as well monetize this.”

However you got here, welcome. Here’s how to make money on TikTok.

TikTok ranks as the 6th most-used social media platform worldwide, with over 1 billion active users as of January 2022. That’s a big market.

Many people have already figured out how to earn money on TikTok, and some consider it a full-time job. Here are the best strategies for making money on the app.

Download the full Social Trends report to get an in-depth analysis of the data you need to prioritize and plan your social strategy in 2022.

Can you make money on TikTok?

The short answer is: Yes, you can make money on TikTok.

But just like painting a picture or determining your ex’s ex’s relationship status, making money on TikTok requires a little creativity. While there are official, app-funded methods of earning cash (see Strategy #4 below), there are plenty of other ways that you can make money on the platform—even if you don’t have a ton of followers.

Similar to social media creators active on other platforms, many TikTok users have already reached financial success through the app. And while TikTok may seem like a new frontier, the strategies you can use to make money will probably look familiar (check out our guides to making money on Instagram and Youtube).

How much do TikTokers make in 2022?

There are many ways to make money on TikTok (see below), and how you go about monetizing your account will determine your earnings.

Brand partnerships on TikTok can make you upwards of $80,000. That’s right — if you’re a big enough creator (with a large and engaged audience and a track record of success on the platform), you can buy an expensive car with your earnings from one video.

As for the TikTok Creator Fund, you can earn between 2 and 4 cents for every 1,000 views, fun making money ideas. This means fun making money ideas might expect $20 to $40 after reaching a million views.

Learn more about the TikTok Creator Fund here.

Who makes the most money on Fun making money ideas queen Addison Rae Esterling reportedly makes $5 million yearly through the app, making her the highest-paid human on TikTok. Following her are Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, who make $4 million and $2.9 million a year, respectively.
  • @jiffpom, a tiny Pomeranian, is the highest-earning dog on TikTok, fetching an average of $12,540 per post.
  • The highest-paid fitness influencer is Demi Bagby, who made over $3 million from less than 50 ads in 2020.
  • And in the world of food, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay makes the most dough (figuratively) with a reported $3.8 million in sponsored posts last year.

So, blue-sky-wise, a successful TikTok profile can set you up for life—but even if you don’t have millions of followers and billions of likes, you can still use it to make money.

4 ways to make money on TikTok

Strategy 1: Partner with a brand you trust

Sponsored content on TikTok is defined as content for which you receive something of value. That’s the goal, right? For example, a brand might pay you to make a TikTok video talking about how great their soy candles smell, or you might receive a free skydiving trip in exchange for posting about it. (Though we’re not recommending taking any free skydiving offers).

And brands are very much interested in entering such paid collaborations. A study on influencer marketing found that in December 2019, 16% of U.S. marketers planned to use TikTok for influencer campaigns—but in March 2021, that number went up to 68%. In other words, influencer marketing is blowing up on the platform.

    Source: eMarketer

According to the same study from eMarketer, companies want to partner with folks who have a following that knows and trusts them, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing social justice movements.

Which brings us to an important point: don’t seek out to partner with companies whose views don’t align with your own. The way you engage with your audience is uniquely yours. Your followers may care about your inspirational soup fun making money ideas or how many languages you can speak or manicure, but they care about your ethics, too.

Here are some tips for getting started with sponsored content:

Only reach out to brands or organizations you really love

If your TikTok is all about your raw vegan journey and all of a sudden you start posting about your favorite local burger joint, your followers will see right through you. Not only is this confusing, fun making money ideas, but it also makes you look like a sellout. So, make sure that your sponsored content aligns with your regular content.

Make a press kit for your TikTok account

A press kit is like a movie trailer for yourself. Best tech companies to invest in right now hypes up all of the great things about you (and gives brands good reasons to work with you) and includes contact information, photos, and notable achievements. Make them want to see what happens next, bag of popcorn in hand. Websites like Templatelab offer press kit templates for free.

    Create a few non-sponsored posts

Brands will want to see that you have what it takes to drive sales to their business. Making a couple of (non-sponsored) posts chatting up your favorite pair of shoes will make that elusive specialty sock brand more likely to want to partner with you.

    Use the Branded Content toggle

People don’t like being deceived—and it turns out, apps don’t like it either. Tiktok created the Branded Content toggle to make sure that users were being transparent. If you’re creating content for sponsorships, hit the button (or risk your video being taken down).

Strategy 2: Partner with an influencer

This is the reverse of the first strategy. If you are an established business looking to grow your presence (and make money) on TikTok, reach out to an influencer whose content aligns with your brand.

Fashionista Wisdom Kaye recently partnered with perfume company Maison Margiela in this TikTok, and food blogger Tiffy Chen partnered with Robin Hood (the flour, not the fox) in this one:

    @tiffycooks

Answer to @saraabdel91 4 Ingredients ONLY, and you can make the BEST, chewy,Hand-pulled Noodles! Link in bio. #ad

    ♬ original sound – TIFFY COOKS 🥟

According to this study by Tomoson, every dollar spent on influencer marketing yielded an average of $6.50 for the business, with the top 13% surveyed reporting a return of $20. What’s more, half of marketers say the customers gained through influencer marketing were higher quality than customers brought in through other channels, like email marketing or organic search.

In conclusion: influencers, well, influence. Effectively. (Even micro-influencers!)

If you’re in the U.S., you can use TikTok Creator Marketplace to geld anlegen schweiz 2022 the right influencer for you. The marketplace site connects brands with influencers. Any brand can join, but it’s only accessible for influencers by invitation (for now).

Outside of the U.S. and TikTok-sanctioned marketplace, search for hashtags that align with you and your business (#dentist, fun making money ideas, #faintinggoats, #thrifting) and scroll through the content. Or, just explore the app yourself, liking the videos you like and ignoring (or hitting “Not interested”) on the ones you don’t. The app will start showing you what you want to see. It’s scary smart like that.

Take your time scrutinizing each creator’s page—we’ve all heard the age-old story of the tearful influencer’s non-racism non-apology. Stay away from problematic TikTokers. It’s 2022.

Strategy 3: Use Tiktok to advertise your products

If you’ve already established merchandise, this is the most obvious route for moneymaking: create TikToks that show off your products, including all the details that make them unique. Make sure you include a link to your shop in your bio.

Here’s a great example—fashion brand Klassy Network shows off how to wear a “brami.”

    @klassynetwork

The last one is my favorite! Love how easy it is! #fashionhack#winterfashion#layeringoutfits#stylingtips#ootd

♬ motive – Ariana Grande & Doja Cat

You can also create your own, personalized merch, like Italian Greyhound (and proud gay icon) Tika the Iggy did. The dog’s owner, Thomas Shapiro, sells Tika-branded clothing online. Makeup brands like Fenty Beauty and Cocokind are also killing the merch game.

Strategy 4: Get TikTok’s Creator Fund payouts

This is the app-sanctioned moneymaking method we were talking about earlier. On July 22, 2020, TikTok announced their new Creator Fund, pledging to give $200M U.S, fun making money ideas. to “encourage those who dream of using their voices and creativity to spark inspirational careers.”

The internet—and the world—ate it up, and only a week later, they announced that the fund would grow to $1B U.S. by 2023. So how do you get your hands on that sweet creator cash? The app has a few boxes you have to tick before you can apply:

    • Be located in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain or Italy
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Have at least 10,000 followers
    • Have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
    • Have an account that abides by TikTok Community Guidelines and terms of bitcoin investing for beginners 2022 can apply for the Creator Fund through the app—as long as you have TikTok Pro (the best things in life are not free).

Tips for getting paid on TikTok

      Be authentic

If the big book on social media had a moral, this would be it. And as hard as it is to believe that authenticity is important in our highly filtered world, internet users crave genuine content.

      @onlinekyne

      ❤️ once upon a time ….

♬ Coming of Age – Blondes

In this 2019 study, 90% of the 1,590 adults surveyed said that authenticity is important online, but 51% said that they believe less than half of brands create work that resonates as authentic.

So whether you’re hopping on a dancing trend or showing off your crochet frogs, stay true to you. It’s the surest way to gain followers you’ll keep—and hopefully, earn some real money.

      Be transparent

This goes hand in hand with authenticity. The rules around posting sponsored content and divulging when you get free stuff are pretty foggy, but it’s always better to err on the side of caution.

TikTok’s branded content toggle adds a disclosure for you (#Ad), so make sure you use it when appropriate.

Look to your favorite creators for guidance

If you’re not sure where to start, start scrolling. Odds are, some of your favorite creators are making money from TikTok. Check out what they are doing—brand deals, promoting T-shirts, fun making money ideas, spelling their Venmo in alphabet soup—and try to put those same strategies into action.

      Don’t ditch your regular content

If every single one of your TikToks is sponsored content or promoting something, your followers will lose interest. You gotta play it cool.

Makeup artist Bretman Rock posts partnerships with Yves Saint Laurent, but also funny video outtakes, his favorite Filipino foods, and of course, the makeup and fashion content that earned him all of his followers in the first place.

Even big brands like Ben & Jerry’s post TikToks presenting their office dogs’ Halloween costumes. Don’t always make it about money.

Don’t give fun making money ideas money on this social network isn’t easy. If it was, we’d all be Addison Rae. (It’s cool to joke about that—she herself acknowledges how many folks don’t think she has a real job. And she does it with the self-assurance of a 20-year-old who makes 5 million dollars a year.)

If you get shut down by one brand or influencer, keep trying. Hard work pays off—literally.

15Sell Plasma or do Medical studies

You can find plasma donation centers here or if you want to do medical studies, you can just google “medical studies” + your city to find some options.

I have a couple friends who have almost done this exclusively as a job. They were basically human guinea pigs, but they made some decent cash at it, fun making money ideas. Sometimes they would have to be at the medical facility for up to 48 hours, so your schedule may need to be flexible.
